Power tops Detroit practice two

Will Power went quickest in the second practice session for this weekend's IndyCar race on the Belle Island street circuit in Detroit. On a track that had mostly dried out from the morning's heavy rain, the Penske driver posted a best time of 1m12.8355s, putting him just 0.09 seconds clear of Dale Coyne Racing's Justin Wilson. Power's team-mate Ryan Briscoe was third-fastest, with Schmidt Hamilton's Simon Pagenaud and KV Racing's Tony Kanaan rounding out the top five

Rosenqvist and Buller earn first poles

Felix Rosenqvist and Will Buller took their maiden F3 Euro Series pole positions after a dramatic end to a tense qualifying session at Spielberg. Swede Rosenqvist had held the top spot with a third of the session gone, but was sent down the field as a succession of drivers, including Carlos Sainz Jr, Daniel Juncadella and Raffaele Marciello took their turns to go fastest

Canonical tag teams with Humble, wraps up Indie Bundle installation with bow (video)

canonical-tag-teams-with-humble--indie-bundle-ubuntu

Love your Linux games, but hate painful installs? Ubuntu maker Canonical understands, and has kicked the usual, less snappy, procedure to the curb creating a new approach for the Humble Indie Bundle. The company already expanded Linux gaming, recently adding EA titles to its Ubuntu Software Center, and now you can download the Humble quintet from there as a single file, and install it in one go. In true open source style, you can pick the price you'd like to pay at Humble's site and even juggle how that sum is distributed to the games' developers and charities. So with the install obstacle gone, trundle on past the break and see if the promo video seals the deal.

Muller edges Menu in second session

World Touring Car Championship leader Yvan Muller produced a last lap effort to knock comic book character Michel Vaillante - or rather RML Chevrolet team-mate Alain Menu sporting contact lenses and dyed hair - from the top spot in the second free practice session at Algarve. Swiss racer Menu edged out Muller for first place shortly after the mid-way mark of the half hour session, recording a lap 0.071 seconds ahead of the triple world champion. The Frenchman left it until his last run to offer a response, but Muller's fastest time of 1m55.590s remained over a second slower than Lukoil Racing's Gabriele Tarquini's benchmark time from free practice one

Gallery: What 100,000 people are lining up (in frustration) to see at Yeosu World Expo

by Frances Cha

Apparently, visitors to the Expo 2012 in Yeosu, Korea, are like blind dates. You pray they'll show up, but when they do, you don't really know what to do with them.

Despite being riddled with global superlatives -- of the quirky techie variety, including biggest gathering of robots in the history of expos, the world's largest dome screen, the world's tallest robot and a laser-shooting robot fish -- the ocean-themed Expo 2012 in Yeosu, Korea, has had a rickety start the past few weeks in terms of attendance and operations.

Visitor turnout

The daily number of visitors to the Yeosu Expo -- located 455 kilometers south of Seoul -- finally reached 100,000 this past Sunday, mostly due to the three-day Buddha's Birthday holiday weekend.

The local press reported that the growing number of visitors served to highlight the shortcomings of the expo, especially in regards to advance bookings and lack of parking, restrooms and accommodations.

According to Korean daily Dong-A Ilbo, more than 1,000 visitors who could not reserve admission to the eight main exhibition halls filed for refunds on Sunday, while some facility operations were stalled when annoyed patrons caused a ruckus at an aquarium.

Wardrobe malfunction marks beginning of Karl Amoussou?s Bellator win

In the first minute of Karl Amoussou's fight with David Rickels, a wardrobe malfunction happened that could have derailed the whole night. Rickels threw an inadvertent kick to Amoussou's groin that snapped the strap that held up Amoussou's protective cup.

This caused a delay in the Bellator welterweight tournament semifinal in Louisiana. Referee Jason Herzog informed the state commission officials on what happened, then asked, "Can someone go to the back and see if he can borrow a cup?"

Now, fighters are usually generous people. They'll share training time, clothes and equipment. But a cup?

Luckily, the Bellator cut man figured out a solution. As shown above, he used athletic tape to secure Amoussou's cup, and all was well in the cage. Amoussou went onto win a very close decision over Rickels and will now face Bryan Baker in the welterweight tournament final.
